Wow, Isn't it good to have had 4 days of sunshine even though the temperature hasn't been especially warm. Everything just seems better in the sunshine. gee it won't be long before the grass is growing and the flowers need to be planted ( oh s#$%$# I Forgot about that). Seriously the spring, summer and fall are the busiest time for the FHB as well as as our home places. Although I complain when I'm planting all the flowers that Mary brings home. I sure do enjoy them when they are blooming. It's the same way with the band sometimes. Some days It's hard to pack up and go, but once we get there and start to play, It's the best feeling in the world. Being able to sing with my wife and entertain people is a privalige that I'm always thankful for. An example of that was yesterday at a Steel guitar jam down in Bolivar. One of our Friends, Rick Troyer, holds jam sessions now and then to help pay for the Steel Guitar Show he puts on every other year. At these jams, there is a back-up band and four steel players at a time get up to play. Mary and I were fortunate to be able to sing a "set" with , Don Burrows, our regular steel player(if he takes his fiber), Rudy Hawk, a beginner on steel but an accomplished song writer, Al Moss, who plays with a local band called Hillbilly Idol, and Wayne Hetzler from Pennsylvania, another excellent steel player. How could you have more fun than that. When you get to sing all those Ray Price songs that the Steel guitar helped make classic it just don't get no better than that. One other thing about these jams, over the years of going to them we have made a bunch of friends and It's like going to a family reunion,
(the side of the family you like) Good to see them all.
Another note, Rick's Big Show is the week-end of April 23, 24, 25, at Atwood Lake Lodge in Sherrodsville Oh, some of the best known Steel Guitarist in the world will be performing over the week-end, and guess who will be opening the show on Friday nite, "THE FHB". We opened it 2 years ago and are proud to do it again Thanks Rick!!!
